Random Repetition, launches Ambient Gallery’s
premier exhibition season with an exemplary Michigan
artist. Linda LaFontsee’s work exemplifies innovative
and extraordinary artistic work that patrons are
estatic to collect and it also captivates audiences by
envoking curiosities about art and how it is made.
Linda LaFontsee conveys the dance of life with an
organic freedom independent of representation using
a variety of media including encaustic, oil and
gouache. Through layering, line, and color, her
paintings build upon the structure of pattern in a
push and pull of what to keep and what to paint over
or scrape away.
With pattern as a foundation, she tones, varnishes,
burns, molds, melts and scratches into the surface of
her paintings until a fluid repetition emerges. Like
organisms under a microscope, her paintings appear
alive, in flux, primordial and eternal. There is a
musical essence to the way in which her paintings
move, undulating in subtle organic motion.

10:00am – 7:00pm Tuesday through Friday.
10:00am – 5:00pm on Saturday and 12:00pm –
5:00pm on Sunday. Monday hours are available by
