The Event Theme 'Dual Vision' with a sub theme of 'Lianzhou Beginnings'. The exhibition focuses on photography and contains multi media visual exhibitions. By exploration, dualism can be disclosed in history and culture. Discussions will be held on photography and its impact in/on vision, existence, society, nationality, regional culture and globalization. Based on photography it includes other media art forms such as installation art video design sound and behavior. There are more than 80 exhibits compiled by top- ranking photographers with a strong representation of artists, academics and scholars attending this event.
The 1st Lianzhou International Photo Festival 2005 was brought to life by the Guang Dong Government in order to promote the province as a culturally significant destination. It is intended to shine a light on Lianzhou City its neighboring minority groups and its surrounding ancient villages. It is the first large international photographic festival held in Guang Dong province, with a realization of cooperation between photography art sociology anthropology and urbanization. Based on photography it includes other media art forms such as installation art video design sound and behavior. The exhibition focuses on photography and contains multi media visual exhibitions. By exploration, dualism can be disclosed in history and culture. Discussions will be held on photography and its impact in/on'vision, existence, society, nationality, regional culture and globalization.
Different image methods to explain conception of 'Lianzhou' will be used. It will be of multiple conceptions, which not only can exhibit the geographic feature of Lianzhou but will also disclose the interaction of this cultural region. This exhibition will break with traditional photo festivals, which only use photography as media. The exhibition will be divided into two parts. The first one is titled 'Lianzhou Report'. In this part we will exhibit two photographers' personal observations of Lianzhou and show newsreels composed of four parts to reveal the situation of Lianzhou. In the second part urban scholars are invited to explore the phenomena of Lianzhou.
Special Topic Exhibition
It refers to the exhibition as 'Who reacts on others?' and 'Ethnography and Image Observation'. The purpose of these exhibitions is to expand photographic concept and to embody another meaning of 'dual vision'. Special Topic Exhibition will also include international photographers exhibits.

Lianzhou Exhibition:
A local exhibition from Lianzhou will be included, which will include the works of local photographers. We will display the local photographic level and also expose, display and relate to others how local people see their own lives.
Documentary and Conepual Photography:
This four artists group exhibition is drawn from the French Ministry of Culture photography collection. Mrs Agnes de Gouvion St-Cyr, its director, has compiled these four works to investigate the changes that have been occuring in photojournalism from the late 60's to now.
- Paul Fusco, "Robert Kennedy's burial trip", color prints of the cross country trip from California to Massachussets taken from the train that carried the coffin of the murdered presidential candidate.
- Pascal Convert "Natural Catastrophies", video installation on four screens. This piece was realized for the "Printemps de Septembre" in 2004.
- Clotilde Viannay, "Disappearing Artifacts in Bagdad" photographic installation with computer and printer.
- Guillaume Herbaut "Shkodra Retaliation" Color prints with text pannels. This work was first shown at the VISA festival in 2004.
