American Music. A portrait photographer of international standing
Iggy Pop, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Beck, Johnny Cash, and the White Stripes - all in the same room. Are we at the Grammy awards ceremony? Or has someone risen from the dead? Annie Leibovitz's photography series American Music makes this sensation possible and brings these diverse artists together.
C/O Berlin is presenting the only German showing of the American Music exhibition by Annie Leibovitz, a portrait photographer of international standing. The show combines portraits of musicians taken over a period of more than 35 years. Including portraits of street musicians, stars in the studio, and individuals listening to music, Leibovitz' photographs reveal the communicative effect of music. Her images are, we can tell, inspired by blues, rock and soul.
A special feature of this exhibition is the interactive audio guide. Leibovitz comments on each individual image, describing how it was created and her encounter with these seemingly unreachable stars.
