Los Angeles, CA - photo l.a. 2006, the largest Photographic Art Exposition in the United States, will be held January 19 - 22 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, located at 1855 Main Street.
Created by Stephen Cohen, producer of the highly acclaimed art fairs photo new york, photo san francisco and artLA, the show will feature the finest photographic art on display and for sale, from the earliest 19th Century photographic experiments to the most contemporary photography and photo-based art. A preview reception, hosted by actress Diane Keaton on Thursday, January 19 from 6 to 9 p.m., will benefit the Photographic Arts Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. A lecture and seminar series will take place at photo l.a. 2006 from January 20-22 with special guest speakers including renowned artists Jeff Brouws, David Hilliard, Martin Parr, Paul Messier, Lucien Clergue and Eikoh Hosoe. A collecting panel entitled “Collecting Photographs in the New Art Market" moderated by Philippe Garner, International Head of Christie’s Photographs, will also be held on Sunday, January 22.
Exhibition hours are Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21, 12p.m. to 7p.m. and Sunday, January 22, 12p.m. to 6p.m. Tickets are $20 for a one-day pass (includes catalog). Lectures are $10 per person, per speaking engagement and onsite collecting seminars are $80 (includes fair admission). Student discounts for lectures and the fair are available with valid I.D.
