The exhibition endeavors to cross the boundary between comics, illustration and pop art. With computer software and digital technology becoming a modern artistic medium, young artists of the twenty first century are moving forward to a new genre of their own. After pop art, which was heavily built on the narrative story-based art, was officially accepted as a practice of art; now, equipped with the same visual influence and refined techniques, graphic artists are making a strong statement. Bamboo Lane Gallery invites four artists to challenge the questioning of aesthetics in comics and illustration. Despite the different media and forms that they employ, the four artists have one thing in common: their final destination is their graphic novels.

To recognize their artistic accomplishments, we must confront the basic question: is illustration art? This survey does not attempt to answer it with authority. Rather, this survey intends to present comics and illustration as a means of self-expression in its blend of imagination, technology and narrative composing to shine some light upon the viewers for them to continue their own quest. To further reveal the artists' emotional depth, we asked each of them to focus on their imaginary family, society and world. The result is intriguing: accompanying their graphic books, the artists will exhibit ink progressive panels, larger than life charcoal drawings, meticulous digital paintings, delicate acrylic paintings on wood boards, humorous water color on paper and numerous sketches to betray the birth of characters in their books.
