We would like to cordially invite you to the opening of our contribution to the Soccer Wolrd Cup on 1 June, 2006, 6-9 p.m.
Coinciding with the Soccer World Cup in Germany in 2006 Galerie Deschler will be presenting works by artists that pertain to the larger topic of soccer and the media spectacle and mass phenomena caused by the World Cup. The works presented span different media, from painting to sculpture, objects, and various forms of photography.
In taking a step back from the phenomenon, the artists are able to shed a critical light on just those aspects of the sport and of the global event that are easily overlooked in the heat of the game and the enthusiasm of the fans.
