This year's focal point presents works from artists who not only use the medium of
photography but also combine it with other mediums, artists whose concept over the
years has followed this mixing of photography with other art practices.
We have also thought out for the first time for Crossover, in the sense of a border
crossing, a shared project authorship.
The gallery collective has invited three Austrian positions (Gerda Lampalzer &
Manfred Opperman: photography-film, Eva Schegel: photography-painting, Alian
Production: photography-media art).These artists were requested to invite another artist
in order to help expand and congeal the theme.
Gerda Lampalzer & Manfred Oppermann together with their chosen artist Wolfgang
Herburger show exemplary works in the field of combining photography and film.
Through projects, objects, installations, and series they encompass the close
relationship between film and photography.
Parallels in the manner of working of the two artistic positions are the interplays
between stricter, media reflective analysis, scientific research and conceptual
methodology with a freer more playful and also humorous association.
Supplementary to the exhibition is a selective film program showing: Paranormal,
luthochdruckerei, Ernst Mach, 3 x Daumenkino von Lampalzer & Oppermann Pirgi- Film,
Ursprung III bis Vermunt, Korrespondierende Zeichen von Wolfgang Herburger.
