1.60insurgent space is the name of a space that move itself continuously inside the cities,
producing exhibitions whose intent is to put to comparison international artists with various
places, different from the “institutional ones", in order to create new arguments around
the art and its borders. The exhibitions are curated every month by Stefano Romano and
a different curator for each event.
The actions of Nikolin Bujari, which take place in the public spaces, are characterised by a neccessity, an urgency, or if we like, an insurgency to the reality of the situation in which the artists decides to take action. Nikolin highlights all the defects of his subject through change, the adding or substraction of the elements in an undue way. Gathering strength in an instinctive manner, in the school of disturbances, his interventions make a mess of the rules that were pre-established from above but not embraced from below, giving back a new image, that of the real and sincere needs of the common people.
In the course of the action for 1.60insurgent space, realized on Tuesday, 30th of May 2006, the artist focuses his attention in the new shelters in bus stations that the Municipality of Tirana has installed in various areas of the capital. The free spaces of these shelters are occupied by advertising images of sponsors and nobody thought of leaving a space for the schedules or routes of busses, as Nikolin Bujari has noted.
On 23rd of June, in a tv shop, will be shown the video documentation of the May action by Nikolin Bujari.
