curated by Wulf Herzogenrath
The Goethe-Institut Hongkong, in collaboration with Videotage and Para/Site
Art Space, presents an installation of '40 Years of Video Art - Digital
Heritage' at the Goethe-Gallery from 2.12.2006 - 15.1.2007. The installation
focuses on saving, maintaining and mediating the cultural heritage of Video
Art, which has become one of the most influential art forms of the 20th
century. The works were shown in Germany earlier at the ZKM Center for Art
and Media Karlsruhe and the K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen Dusseldorf
before coming to Hong Kong, among them videos by Marina Abramovic, Joseph
Beuys, Rebecca Horn, Christian Jankowski, Nam June Paik... etc. Apart from
the package curated by Wulf Herzogenrath, Director of Kunsthalle Bremen in
Germany, an overview of Hongkong-based video and new media art collective
Videotage's own archive from the past 20 years will also be showcased in the
installation.
A workshop on the same topic will take place on 2.12.2006 (Sat), when Wulf
Herzogenrath will be present to share his experience with the Hong Kong
public. Detailed schedule of the workshop will be announced in due course.
