Belleza y Felicidad, Buenos Aires

Belleza y Felicidad is happy to introduce the first abroad solo show of Lorenza Lucchi Basili, an emerging Italian artist who lives and works in Bologna.

Lorenza Lucchi Basili's project occupies both of the gallery's exhibition spaces. The upper floor room will present the multimedia installation Teatro d'ombre/Teatro de sombras, the lower floor room will host a visual-sound installation based upon the artist's photographic series Space nineteen, Paris and on a specifically designed soundscape. The red thread of the works on show is the theme of wilderness, meant as a border, as a place of departure from the conventional coordinates of reality, as a venue for access to the dimension of mystery.


About Belleza y Felicidad

Belleza y Felicidad is an alternative art space run by artists and poets Cecilia Pavón and Fernanda Laguna in Buenos Aires

Belleza y Felicidad supports diversity and experimentation and provides an exhibition and gathering space for emerging artists in order to foster an understanding of the role played by artists as historians, provocateurs, critics and citizens of their society . Concerned with providing a place for emerging art that usually has difficulties entering the market and the institutional circuit, Belleza y Felicidad is focused in promoting interdisciplinary works that lead to the creation and evolution of cooperative networks among artists with such different backgrounds and disciplines as visual artists, rock and electronic musicians, poets, designers, video artists, web artists, etc.

Belleza y Felicidad publishes poetry books and a monthly magazine with texts by young writers, and is the main center of distribution for independent and author editions of literature, art books and magazines. In addition to art installations, lectures, poetry readings, music performances, fashion shows and video and film screenings make use of our space.

Belleza y Felicidad is interested in establishing international connections to feature emerging artists from abroad to benefit from an enriching exchange of experience and information. Two German artists have already held shows in 2000 and there are exhibitions from Uruguayan and Italian artists scheduled for May and June 2001.

Belleza y Felicidad is currently financed by the selling of small-format works at very low prices and independent supporters interested in the project.
