Experience an exhibition of interiors ... with a difference

You are in a museum. You have already entered a world of time and place different from our own. Now explore a piece of real estate made to transcend your imagination.

We have several rooms to offer you - some with a sunny aspect, and some with interesting and unusual features. Forget 'Changing Rooms' and all those TV programmes about interior decoration, here are interiors the like of which you've never seen before.

Wander past the lounge with dual aspect, the unusually furnished kitchen, a period bathroom with special appliances, an attractively decorated bedroom, and prepare to be amused, amazed, and, perhaps, a little shocked.

Each room is fully furnished and decorated. Some of the objects in the rooms may be many years old, some may be brand new, some are from our collections, and some are made by artists. The art works include a decorated toilet suite by Paul Scott, ceramics by Caroline Taylor, textiles and furnishings by Jac Scott, photographs by Val Corbett, John Darwell and Gill Jones, sinister kitchen utensils by Darren Lago, and an altar cloth designed to fit a kitchen sink by Irma-Jane Caggiano. This exhibition carries a message - truth is stranger than fiction. But can you tell which is art and which is life?

This exhibition is in the Special Exhibitions Gallery. Admission is included with the museum entrance charge. Admission is free to Carlisle district residents with a Tullie Card.
