Il 1° Marzo 2007 sarà inaugurata la mostra “Il Canto della terra” dello scultore e ceramista Giancarlo Scapin, con presentazione in catalogo di Anty Pansera. L’esposizione di Giancarlo Scapin nasce dall’interesse per un maestro che foggia quella “terra” che sopporta la forza trasformatrice del fuoco e per un artista che, dopo le straordinarie personali in varie parti d’Italia - dove il suono e la poesia delle sue terre lo hanno visto partecipe di una connivenza delle varie arti, sia le più materiche come i gres, sia le più spirituali come la musica - domina da anni la scena estetica contemporanea con opere scultoree in gres e porcellana, apprezzate negli ambienti più raffinati d’Italia e d’Europa, Stati Uniti e Giappone.

Particolare attenzione gli è stata riservata dagli storici e dai critici per quell’operare poetico che continua a contraddistinguere il fare artistico e ceramico dall’apparente illusione del sorprendere e del semplice stupire. Per l’occasione sarà presentato il catalogo delle sue ultime opere con allegato il CD della musica del compositore Giovanni Bonato, che ha fatto evocare suoni nuovi da soffi umani, da manufatti artistici e da strumenti in gres e porcellana creati dal Maestro, accompagnati dalla voce di Antonietta Manea, quale figura della Madre Terra e con la partecipazione straordinaria di Gabriele Grotto alle percussioni sulle opere ceramiche, e di Giuseppe Dal Bianco al flauto, al duduk e al didgeridoo.

The Song of the Earth

On March 1st 2007, the Terre d’Arte Gallery, in Via Maria Vittoria 20 /A – Turin, will inaugurate the exhibition entitled “Il Canto della Terra” (“The Song of the Earth”), featuring the work of sculptor and ceramist Giancarlo Scapin, and a special introductory presentation by Anty Pansera. Giancarlo Scapin’s exhibition is the consequence of great interest in a master who fashions the “earth” which withstands the transforming force of the flame and in an artist that, after his extraordinary personal exhibitions in various parts of Italy (where the sounds and poetry of his homeland have seen him contribute to a combination of various art forms, including both the substantial, such as sandstone, and the more spiritual, such as music), has for years dominated the contemporary visual arts scene with sandstone and porcelain sculptures, held in high esteem by the some of the most discerning observers in Italy, Europe, the United States and Japan.

He has attracted particular attention from historians and critics thanks to his poetic style which continues to distinguish his artistic and ceramic works from the apparent illusion of surprise and mere astonishment. Especially for the occasion, a catalogue of his most recent work will be presented together with a CD of music composed by Giovanni Bonato, who has evoked new sounds from human murmurings and from artistic items and sandstone and porcelain instruments made by the master himself, accompanied by the voice of Antonietta Manea, playing the role of Mother Earth, and with the special participation of Gabriele Grotto, playing percussion on the aforementioned ceramic pieces, and Giuseppe Dal Bianco playing the flute, duduk and didgeridoo.
