Simultaneous Multiplicity
ASTO museum of art are pleased to announce the opening of L.A. International Art Festival,
and it will be a great honor for us to invite your organization to the International Art Festival at
ASTO Museum of Art.
Purpose of L.A. International Art Festival
Pluralism in Art or Culture, which forms in the basis of possibility in new unification and continuous change, maximizes when its core; hegemony is absent.
Asto Museum of Art’s sphere of action is in California, where a foundation of immigration cultures and diversities, carries difficult character that forms its core.
In other word, it means there is surprising possibility that absorbs huge receptive capacity in world various forms of Art.
Also, Long Beach, where our Museum is located in, is a foundation that helps to develop transportation in harbor industry in Southern California. Under the
consideration of this character, meaning of this location could also be added technical meaning of reception and distribution into Pluralism that has absence of its hegemony. If general meaning of Pluralism has decided with positive contradiction by exchanging of various but different views, opinions and thoughts, there is a little
gap between general Pluralism and artistic Pluralism that our Museum seek for. That is to say, our artistic Pluralism has not only decided by those exchanging but also included a beginning phenomenon and viewer’s reaction that are created while those exchanges actively and vividly bump against each other.
Therefore, International Art Festival in L.A will be continued with the theme of ‘Simultaneous Multiplicity’ in different countries during year of 2007.
Our purpose of presenting this festival could be understood by simply showing cultural differences focusing on one particular culture during one year,
but we hope you to find the illumination of multiplicity through those cultural differences in art world, and that is the another definition of Multiplicity that Asto Museum of Art would like to share with you.
