Take time meet art Vienna
Following two successful years, Art&Idea is pleased to announce the
opening of the third edition of Vienna Art Week on Tuesday, April 24th,
2007. Well ahead of the frantic art tour de force between Venice, Basel
and Kassel, Vienna Art Week offers a unique opportunity to experience the
dynamic Viennese art scene, meet some of the most challenging minds of the
international art world and enjoy an inspiring programme that features art
from classical antiquity to cutting edge contemporary art positions.
Robert Punkenhofer, founder/ director of ART&IDEA and artistic director of
Vienna Art Week states: “Again all mayor Viennese art institutions
have joined forces to create an amazingly diverse programme that clearly
positions Vienna Art Week as the most important visual art event in
Central Europe.” Vienna and it´s relaxed atmosphere welcomes
art professionals from all over the world to a well-established programme
structure: Ahead of Time is dedicated to a contemporary cultural
discourse; international art experts such as Nicolaus Schafhausen, Don and
Mera Rubell, Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Marie-Laure Jousset and directors of
Viennese art institutions discuss topics as diverse as the position of
Vienna as an art location in a global context, new trends in an ever more
global art market, the fine line between art and design as well as new
challenges that curatorial practice is confronted with today.
Private
Time events such as studio visits and guided tours give curators, critics,
collectors and artists the exclusive opportunity to meet protagonists of
the Viennese art scene and explore the numerous exhibitions on view. And
Big Time celebrates art and artists in a number of festive occasions,
including receptions, openings, and the award ceremonies of the
viennaartbookaward and the Birgit Jürgenssen Prize. Artistic interventions
that are commissioned especially for the Vienna Art Week are presented by
[Erwin Redl] (http://paramedia.net/) and [I] (http://ianmonroe.net/)[an
Monroe] (http://ianmonroe.net/). The Vienna Art Week runs through April
29th 2007. For more information about the entire programme and
