Makebelief
The Kravets/Wehby Gallery is pleased to announce "Makebelief" a solo exhibition of new work by Macha Suzuki. The exhibition opens Thursday May 24, with a reception from 6-8 pm and runs through June 23, 2007
"Makebelief" marks Macha Suzuki's first solo exhibition in New York introducing the Angeleno's lighthearted sensibility. Macha creates decadent sculptural abstract narratives loosely based on his personal life.
Bright candy colors and over-the-top charm are Macha's specialties. The diversion factor in Macha's sculpture purposefully evades definition or cultural association and presents an experience where the truth meets the fantasy and the belief meets the Makebelief.
Macha seduces the viewer and, in so doing, creates a Makebelief world where harmony reigns in the form of miniature trees and magical opalescent eggs.
Macha Suzuki lives and works in Los Angeles. He recently received his MFA from Claremont Graduate University in California. This will be his first solo show.
Opening: Thursday, May 24th 6-8pm
