A Playground for Creativity. Helsinki Design Week is an international festival for creative industries. The festival aims at bringing designers and citizens together. Its slogan 'A Playground for Creativity' refers to a wide range of fairs, exhibitions, shows and gettogethers.
A Playground for Creativity
The program of Helsinki Design Week is based on acts as Open Studios, Open House, Shopping in Helsinki and Design Market. There structure has become familiar during the years but the content varies annually.
Designpartners aims to be the meeting point for the professionals, media and early adaptors. Its spearheads are valuable encounters, design diversity and pioneering stand.
Every other year Helsinki Design Week is joined by Habitare and Ahead. This is the case year 2007.
In addition, special exhibitions and events are arranged every year. Last year´s hit was ”Pimp My City” which turned some construction sites into art. The coming September will include happenings on Suomenlinna Fortress Island and an inspiring catwalk inside the Old Center of Helsinki...

Designer Awards ’07 -exhibition
Finnish designers’ organizations Grafia and Ornamo are awarding their best designers annually. The industrial graphic-, fashion-, textile-, craft-, furniture- and interior designers’ awards have been honored for the last 20 years by colleagues of the field. Citizens’ Living Room
IKEA surprises all and presents fashion made from IKEA textiles by young Finnish fashion designers: Anu Salonen, Lustwear, Tiia Vanhatapio and Jarno Viitala. The event takes place in specially constructed living rooms right in the courtyard of City Hall in the quarters of Senate Square. Fashion pieces will be sold on Design Market during weekend.
