Roland Seidel wades through artistic techniques, media and subjects using an exterritorializing methodology. This way the passage from traditional media to the so-called new media is delegated to the realm of the procedural. Painting and other forms of image production are not in complementary distribution. The core demand calls for an autonomy of the artwork. Freedom can only appear in immediate contact with things and ideas, only by shedding away any distancing through rationalization, through love and labour.
