Galerie Wieland is pleased to announce Thomas Raschke's solo show "wire frames". He will show works made from soldered iron wire. The installation consists of single objects in original scale that come from raschke's everyday surroundings: elements and machines from his studio - the workshop - and kitchen furnishings. raschke's works are three-dimensional drawings that form a volume and thus create objects that are called "electric drill" or "refrigerator".

Galerie Wieland is pleased to announce Thomas Raschke's solo show "wire frames". He will show works made from soldered iron wire. The installation
consists of single objects in original scale that come from raschke's everyday surroundings: elements and machines from his studio - the workshop - and
kitchen furnishings. raschke's works are three-dimensional drawings that form a volume and thus create objects that are called "electric drill" or
"refrigerator".
Visual penetration of these things - one which includes all possible views and perspectives - is imaginable only if all their details exist in a
three-dimensional totality, as drawings in space. But how many lines are necessary to describe the edges and surfaces of an object in space? There is
always a compromise between the sum of lines and plasticity, the ideal balance lying somewhere between an austere economy and the luxury of detail.
The curving horizontal and vertical lines are suggesting a three-dimensional form to us, while supplying precise information about the border between the
object and the external world. raschke's lines are minimal shorthand for complex plastic forms.
A catalogue will be published for this exhibition.
