John Davies: The British Landscape
John Davies captures the British landscape in a permanent state of flux.
His black and white photographs, taken between 1979 and 2005, show the vast, complex and majestic scenery of industrial and post-industrial Britain. The series features dramatic photographs of the Scottish mountains and the Lake District. before moving on to examine the rapid growth of our towns and cities including Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and the North East.
Each photograph is accompanied by Davies' notes on the social and historical background to the places and scenes featured. Whilst viewing the epic vista of Birmingham's New Street Station at the turn of the millennium, we learn of its revolutionary past and prosperous future.

Ansel Adams: Photographs
Ansel Adams (1902-1984) is one of the most celebrated and influential 20th century landscape photographers. Pushing technical boundaries and artistic conventions, he has become an icon of the modern era. The set of images featured in this exhibition span his career from 1920's to the 1970s, and reflect the place of Adam's work in a tradition of American photographers of the sublime natural landscape. Hand-printed and selected by Adams during the last years of his life, they are the images by which he wanted to be remembered.
Ansel Adams is organised by Modern Art Oxford. All works are from the collection of Anne Adams Helms.
