Most noted for his farcical illustrated series 'Lost Consonants', in The
Weekend Guardian for over 15 years, Rawle's tongue in cheek illustrations
are as humorous as they are popular. Graham Rawle's work has incorporated
illustration, design, photography and installation, his most recent artistic
foray has been as an illustrator/novelist.
Among Rawle's published books are The Wonder Book of Fun, Lying Doggo and
Diary of an Amateur Photographer. His critically praised Woman's World, an
illustrated novel created entirely from fragments of found text taken from
1960's women magazines, has become an international cult sensation and is
currently being made into a feature film. His most recent publication, an
illustrated book of The Wizard of Oz is a visual representation of L. Frank
Baum's original text.
Colm Mac Athlaioch from Monster Truck Gallery & Studio commented on Rawle,
"It's the cross between fine art and illustration, as well as sharp wit and
a refreshing sense of the absurd that has always appealed to us in Rawle's
work. Having admired his 'Lost Consonant' series for many years we thought
Ireland needed to learn more about Graham and hope they'll be as inspired as
we've been when he pops round to share some Golden Moments over a cup of
Barry's Tea."
The Barry's 'Tea With' series of cultural workshops invites tea fans and the
most progressive Irish collectives to have 'Tea With' some inspirational
international creative talent in a relaxed, conversational environment.
