comunicato stampa

The course of events leaves traces: corrasion, prints, residue. The decreased tell about happenings. Trash, eliminated and written off. In falling, importance becomes less important. Things cluster on the ground. Markus Uhr visits the collection points of remains. He moves in the palimpsest of material and meaning on the ground and in pictures. Sidewalks, displays, printed and bulky things. He leads his found properties into a second cycle, a new terrain of emoluments and importance of human destinies. He asks, which sence they (still) have and uses them on based on his own facts. In his collages and arangements he designs his own perspectives of success and failure.

Galerie b2_ is glad to show the second solo exhibition »2.« by Markus Uhr.

In 2008 Markus Uhr obtained the Marion-Ermer-Preis, in 2007 the Swiss-Art-Award and the Personalpreis of the Dr. Georg and Josi Guggenheim-Foundation. His work was last shown at the New Museum Weimar and at Kunstraum Walcheturm, Zürich. Most recently his catalouge I'M AFRAID OF JASPER JOHNS, (ed. Marion Ermer Stiftung) with a text by Benjamin Godsill (curator at the New Museum, NY) was published and his book TWELVE STEP PROGRAM by JRP. Also Markus Uhr designs the INSERT of PARKETT #85.
