Roaming Around II. In her work the artist combines different realities of nature, transfers motives from one environment to another, changes meanings and toys with possibilities of perception that arise when delicately highlighting and combining seemingly unrelated elements. Her personal exhibition includes series of photo collages, installations and video - both new pieces and the most significant examples of her previous work, among them "Terrains Vagues" performed with Giuseppe Ielasi, an Italian musician.
Kristīne has been living and working in Milan for a long time now, and her creative style was largely shaped and developed there. Her biography lists many international and remarkable exhibitions (in Italy, Greece, Germany, Czech Republic, Croatia and USA). In her work the artist combines different realities of nature, transfers motives from one environment to another, changes meanings and toys with possibilities of perception that arise when delicately highlighting and combining seemingly unrelated elements.
Her personal exhibition ROAMING AROUND II will include series of photo collages, installations and video - both new pieces and the most significant examples of her previous work, among them “Terrains Vagues” performed with Giuseppe Ielasi, an Italian musician.
„Works by Kristīne resemble indexes, labyrinths of meaning, references that try to take the viewer further than the visually perceptible object. Nature becomes Kristīne's palette and the main source of reference that lets you feel the longing for natural environment of homo urbanus and allows room for thinking both about topics of ecology and human relationship with nature.”
(Solvita Krese, curator of the exhibition, director of LCCA)
„The reality of Kristīne Alksne's art is made up by phenomena of nature, viewed in their natural inconsistency and examined to the very smallest detail. Her work speaks the language of such natural sublimity, clarity and lightness which we are not used to any more.”
(Gabi Skardi, art historian, Italy)
