A celebration of visual artists living or working in the Lambeth area. The art event, stretching over a month, is a unique encounter across the arts. All the participants work in a mixture of media such as painting, sculpture, installation, sound work, film and video.
The Vauxhall Open is a celebration of visual artists living or working in
the Lambeth area. The art event, stretching over a month, will take place in
the magnificent surroundings of St Peter's Church in Vauxhall and is a
unique encounter across the arts.
All the participants work in a mixture of
media such as painting, sculpture, installation, sound work, film and video.
Also, during the exhibition there will be high profile club nights as well
as dance, poetry and classical music events.

This event features new and commissioned films and a programme of classical
and modern classical music. The music, including pieces by composer Artyom
Vassiliev will be performed by internationally acclaimed musicians Katja
Sourikova, Kristina Blaumane and Maxim Rysanov recently featured in one of
the Wigmore Hall's "Young Masters" concerts.
saturday may 11 The Siren Suite 9pm - 1am £5.00
The Siren Suite, Britain's only Classical/New Music night club hosts the
launch party Hallelujah Fling! for Resonance 104.4 fm's wild new radio show
"Mind The Gap - It's The Sound Storm". They promise a very special guest
that has to be seen to be believed. Previous surprises included Jarvis
Cocker of Pulp. (See press release attached for full line up).

Mitchell Anderson performs excerpts from his award winning one man show

Story telling & irreverent theatre from Sleeping Giant, and Eva Weaver
presents Skeleton Woman.
We are excited to announce Courttia Newland  The rising star of Brit-lit
and chronicler of inner city life' (Guardian), and recently named one of
the Independent on Sunday's 20 best young British writers.
He will be performing extracts from his work.
Tunes for the evening provided by dj Martin Willis.

The Vauxhall Open will be brought to a close with a wealth of talent from a
wide variety
of acts including storytelling and performance poetry. Traditional Egyptian
"Raqs Sharqi" dance, various acoustic performances and a special act on the
lighter side from our Russian classical musicians. The music hots up with
rap artist "badmanner" and his "SEF CREW" and culminates in a storming live
set from inimitable rock n rollers "The Toes". Holding it all together on
the night  the very fabulous Dougee Dimensional (Gentle People) in his role
as DJ / entertainer.
