The Centre Pompidou launches its new
festival, showcasing today’s creation in all its shape and colours to the general public.
5 weeks of excitement. With an array of daily events such as exhibitions,
shows, conferences, screenings, tableaux, concerts and performances,
the new festival will be a non-stop research lab into today’s creation.
5 weeks of artistic encounters. Reinventing the Centre Pompidou’s
ross-disciplinary identity, the new festival will spur contemporary creators
into reshuffling the arts.
5 weeks of emergence. At the heart of the art world’s debates, the new festival
will assert the Centre Pompidou’s involvement with artists whose artworks
offer new forms of expression. It will strive to renew the very language
of exhibitions and stage performances.
Ultimately, it will offer a privileged opportunity to take a new look at today’s
creation and issues.
Right at the heart of the city, the Galerie Sud of the Centre Pompidou
will be the pulsating heart of the new festival, welcoming an array
of artworks in Heimo Zobernig’s flexible scenography. Among the artists
taking part in the festival are Carsten Höller, Andrea Blum, Jorge Pardo,
Manfred Pernice, Tobias Rehberger, Franz West and Zlatan Vulkosavljevic,
Olivier Vadrot and Cocktail Designers. So many different sites to be freely
explored by the visitor...
Heimo Zobernig also is designing the stage settings which will welcome
daily performances that are bound to give their own rhythm to an ever
renewed program : avant-garde forms of live poetry known as "Bruits
de bouche", acted-out conferences, "Rosebud" moments of reminiscence,
"Unidentified Video Objects", performances...

Palermo (a reconstruction of Blinky Palermo’s theatre) will offer a
selection of short pieces with regular interludes. Among the participants:

Cécile Bart, Philippe Millot... He also designs the festival «schedule»,
a giant calendar on the Piazza.
Offering an echo to the Galerie Sud’s programme, the Espace 315
is in the hands of Sophie Perez and Xavier Boussiron. They understand
it as a space that can house miscellaneous shows, "a cross between
a walkway, a lobby and a theatre hall" that breaks down the barriers
between the various artistic areas.
Among the participants: Philippe Katerine, Rita Gombrowicz,
Marie France, Charles Pennequin & Jean-François Pauvros...
The festival will be also based in the Centre Pompidou’s forum, with
Olivier Bardin and Davide Balula. In the foyer, an exceptional new show
of dance-video through almost two hundred films, around Vincent
Lamouroux’s Sol which will unfold beneath the visitor’s and invited
choreographers’ feet. Last but not least, our main theatre will house
a whole set of shows to round up this varied programme. Among the
guests: Elmgreen & Dragset, Stars like fleas and In Famous Carousel...
Thanks to the support of the Centre des Monuments Nationaux,
the festival also takes place beyond the Centre Pompidou, in the grand
heritage hall of the Conciergerie on the Ile de la Cité, by inviting
