Poinsett State Park in Wedgefield, SC has announced the upcoming
season of its Artist-In-Residence program. Open to all visual
artists, the Artist-In-Residence program is an opportunity for
artists to interpret Poinsett State Park and the surrounding area
through their work. Artists are invited to submit applications
for a one-week stay at a rustic Civilian Conservation Corps cabin
at the park.
Cabins come fully furnished with bed and bath linens, heating, air
conditioning, and a full kitchen. Each artist selected will be
asked to contribute a piece of work representative of their stay
at the park, to be displayed in the cabins and throughout the
park. The finished artwork should characterize Poinsett State
Park for present and future generations, and offer the public an
opportunity to experience the many facets of the park.
A jury comprised of various artists and park representatives will
select four finalists for the 2001 season. Selections will be
based on artistic quality, ability to reside in a secluded
environment, a willingness to donate a finished piece of artwork
inspired at the park, and the artist's ability to relate and
interpret the park through their work.
Artists wishing to apply to the 2001 Artist-In-Residence program
should write to: Artist-In-Residence, c/o Poinsett State Park,
