28th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques
Since humankind first discovered the power of moving images, we have been on an
exploration and odyssey to discover ways to share ideas with audiences around the
globe. We strive to transcend the boundaries of time and space, language and
culture. In all disciplines and all fields, we see the pervasiveness of the digital image
as a means to educate, entertain, and enrich our lives.
At no other time in our history have we had the technology and artistry available to
dispense so much information to so many at one time. We are surrounded by digital
imagery in our classrooms, shopping malls, homes, offices, and entertainment
megaplexes as we continue our quest to understand our reality, to replicate,
expand, stretch, and distort it. We want to be entertained, enlightened, aroused,
moved, and challenged, all at the same time, on demand, and as close to "being
there" as possible. In our short lifetimes, we can experience more emotions, learn
more facts, and visit more destinations than ever before.
Every year, the masters of computer-generated imagery push technology with their
passion and vision to create. Artists, scientists, and technicians have collaborated
for over 30 years to set the stage for the astounding way we now think, feel, and
communicate with each other through visual imagery. And each year the bar is
raised yet again in the quest for excellence, innovation, and the human experience.
There is no greater world-renowned venue to showcase your computer-generated
masterpieces and accomplishments in film and video, motion graphics, and
interactive techniques than at the celebrated SIGGRAPH 2001 Computer Animation
Festival.
