The Diamond Sea. A specific project proposed as part of the contemporary art festival Casanova Forever. The artist has agreed to produce a work made up of a set of nine systems which invite visitors to try out a visual and sensory circuit. The two projects -Le Grand Soir (presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale) and The Diamond Sea- are linked by the figure of Casanova and by the geography of Venice and Sete.

For the first time since it opened, the Centre Régional d‘Art Contemporain is devoting its entire venue to a single artist with a specific
project created for the exhibition, proposed as part of the contemporary art festival Casanova Forever.
Claude Lévêque has agreed to produce a work made up of a set of nine systems which invite visitors to try out a visual and sensory
circuit.
The Diamond Sea is a chimaera-like world, involving the sea, in fact, as reflecting surface. I am evoking Casanova here, that
disquieting character, impostor and seducer alike. My work develops around elements associated with reflections, with mirror effects,
with duplications and all forms which have to do with the senses. The two projects—Le Grand Soir (presented at the 53rd Venice
Biennale) and The Diamond Sea—are linked by the figure of Casanova and by the geography of Venice and Sète, with their canals
which form a space of transport and transmission. Because of these different factors, the history of the exhibition becomes more
allegorical and more metaphysical. In Sète, the exhibition sheds the
straitjacket of the oversized architecture of the CRAC. The space can
embark on a narrative, in its stroll through places of transition, dovetailed
spaces, between their levels, and their visions high and low alike. This
enables me to play with certain aspects of mirroring, sea and infinity.
