Channeling her dreams of immigrating to the United States through her Barbie doll, young Soon-Ja becomes bitterly jealous when an American man takes interest in adopting her older, healthier sister Soon-Young. Moored by the moody atmospheric cinematography of Min-su Kim, Lee's latest feature is a thought-provoking exploration of Korean-American adoption and multi-cultural identification.
