Mike Kelley’s Mobile Homestead
On the occasion of Amsterdam Art Weekend, EYE is showing the last work by American artist Mike Kelley (1954-2012). Kelley reconstructed the house in which he was raised in Westland, Detroit and travelled with it back to his native soil. In three films he documented the community in the area, which fell into serious decline after the heyday of the car industry in the nineteen sixties and is now seeking new post-industrial values. The films are showing in the Netherlands for the first time.
