The Festival of Stuff. Part found footage, part memoir and part live performance, this is a single artwork created by Scott King and his collaborators.
The Festival of Stuff is a celebration of ‘the late night YouTube experience’. Part found footage, part memoir and part live performance, The Festival of Stuff is essentially a single artwork created by Scott King and his collaborators.
King says of the work "I wanted to re-present some of these 'lost bands', to look again at this brilliant pop debris that foats around YouTube ... to make theatre or art from this stuff that I watch late into the night. I also wanted to realise some of my fantasies ... if I sit and stare at the screen for long enough, late into the night, then I begin to dream up collaborative projects for myself and musicians. I devise ideas for art works made from rock and pop. The Festival of Stuff is the realisation of some of these ideas".
The Festival of Stuff features live performances by Luke Haines, Mathew Sawyer, Lady Bruts of Disco, The Romanian Sex Pistol and the Ian Curtis Dancers, as well as new audio/visual works by both Jeremy Deller and Russell Haswell and rare footage of Howlin’ Wolf, Iggy Pop, Dexys Midnight Runners, Earl Brutus, Genesis, Dr Feelgood, Gary Glitter, The Pretty Things, Sex Pistols, The Monks, Happy Mondays and The Supremes.
