How Contemporary Art is Written Into Reality

Contemporary art function as texts, with reading, interpretation and deciphering being the main mechanisms of working with them. But can literature interpretation principles be applied to understand the works of artists? Drawing on the work 'Text Within Text' by literary scholar and cultural historian Yuri Lotman, the theme tour participants will learn to perceive works of art as texts which can and should be read. The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre's guide Olga Kucheruk. Theme tours can be arranged on request for schools and universities.
