MOOV, a true meeting place for cross
border exchange between Quebec, New
York and Mexico, creates an opportunity for
media artists to explore a multitude of
collaborative possibilities transcending
cultural, political, economic and
geographical borders. As an initiative for
the artists, MOOV renews our examination
of our artistic and curatorial practice,
allowing for an exchange of individual
artistic expression between the artists and
the public.
MOOV 2002 was inspired by Cadáver
Exquisito/Exquisite Corpse Ni Dios lo quiera/God
Forbid! an experimental collective project with 13
Mexican video artists initiated by Alfredo Salmón,
Fabián Castro and Claudia Prado in 2000. This
year, parallel to the Mexican project, 13 artists
from Quebec and 13 from New York were invited to
create their own version of the Exquisite Corpse,
entitled Je me souviens and Little Sins, respectively.
MOOV 2002 in New York presents the Exquisite
Corpse Video Project with performances, video
screenings and installations by artists from each
region. We are excited by this opportunity to
create a meeting space for media arts exchange
in New York and look forward to future
presentations in Quebec and Mexico.
