Cases 2009 - 10. A series of photographies in bird's-eye
"Cases" is about a series of photographies in bird's-eye view of lid and bottom of historical and modern cases and boxes, which were handmade or industrially manufactured to protect precious objects, scientific instruments and commoner, aristocratic or royal everyday objects. Emptied of their contents, the container are removed from their original function, scale and context to become objects of fine art and autonomous abstract images. Our knowledge of the objects' origin and history offers a supplementary level of perception. Their materials and imprints receive graphical and abstract character and refer to the presumed absence. The first photographs of moulds were made in 2007 in parallel to this series.
