Improvised music under the influence of the late DJ Screw. A Houston-based project featuring David Dove and Lucas Gorham. Layering trombone, guitar, and lap steel with loops and effects, woven with recordings from DJ Screw's Diary of the Originator series, the duo finds meaningful connections between seemingly disparate musical genres. Screwed Anthologies infuses electro-acoustic improvisation with a love of the thick textures, soulful expressiveness, deep bass, and slowed tempos that characterize the music of DJ Screw and the unique sound of the region. The event will take place on Thursday, June 3, 2010 beginning at 8p.m. at ATHICA, in the Chase Street Park Warehouses. Admission 6 dollars. Suggested donation (but no one turned away for lack of funds.)
