"Lydia Lunch. Retrospective" is a photo, video, poetry and music exhibition-installation and explores the work of this American singer, poet, writer, actress and photographer whose career was spawned by the New York No Wave punk subculture in 1976. Her large and diverse body of work typically features provocative and confrontational delivery and has maintained an anti-commercial, do-it-yourself ethic.

The exhibition brings together more than fifty works, including photographs, video, texts, a soundtrack made for this show that compile the best of her music, and a multimedia installation called "Belchite". Through the ruins of this little village in Aragon (Spain) Lydia Lunch continue exploring new ways and means to ward-or renew her demons.

Hailed by the Boston Phoenix as "one of the 10 most influential performers of the 90's", no other artist of the 20th century has fought, forged, punched, and sculpted their own artistic vision in such a uniquely original way. Defying categorization, Lydia Lunch (EEUU, 1959) actively has conquered new territories, and has gained international recognition for the innovative quality of her work.

Lunch is a multifaceted woman, consciously unclassifiable and able to mix qualities traditionally attributed to men with others that belong to the feminine nature. She deals issues hit squarely in the politically incorrect with absolute devotion and apparent indifference. Lunch breaks any preconceived ideas. She is one the queens of the "No Wave" and one of the main figures of the underground. Performer, poet, writer, multimedia artist, singer, musician, composer and one of the premier promoters of Spoken Word, she has collaborated with dozens of other visionaries, including Hubert Selby Jr., Karen Finley, Richard Kern, Sonic Youth and Nick Cave.
