Cooper's literal, Vienne's theatrical and Trecartin's filmic work allow a new and interdisciplinary insight into youth and pop cultural phenomenon. With the help of interdisciplinary presentations they create fictive, mental spaes, within which the spectator or reader and their characters are taken to the edge of reality. This grey zone serves as a setting for their shared interest in cross-border and radical themes.

The American author, publisher, performance artist and blogger Dennis Cooper will present an excerpt from his dark oeuvre, which encompasses such themes as (homo-) sexuality, drugs, language and death and is well-known for its straightforward language. Since 2005 he has been working as a scriptwriter collaborating with the franco-austrian director Gisele Vienne.

Gisele Vienne lives and works as a director, choreographer, performer and visual artist in Grenoble and Paris. In her theater performances she proclaims a new visual expression by means of aesthetical mixture of puppet theatre, dance and experimental music for instance with the well known musicians Peter Rehberg and Sunn O))). Jerk is the story of a serial killer, acted out, in Viennes typically shocking manner, by puppets and the actor Jonathan Capdevielle. It is Vienne's and Cooper's fourth collaborative theatre production.

Vienne's performative play with puppets is reminiscent of Ryan Trecartin's filmic language. By invading everyday settings beyond recognition, his protagonists construct a worldview that alters between the banality of reality and fictional extremes. Cooper was the first person to acknowledge and identify the work of Trecartin in Artforum Magazine.

Along with early short films, Kunstverein Munchen presents the film A Family Finds Entertainment (2004) of the young American artist, showing sequences of the life of a psychotic young boy.
