La Galleria Pianissimo è lieta di presentare Britannica, la prima personale italiana dell’artista statunitense Daniel Turner. La mostra è composta da “sfregamenti” murali ed un dipinto. Gli sfregamenti cingeranno per intero il piano terra, esplicando i concetti di presenza\assenza in modo sottile ma al tempo stesso conturbante.

Realizzati in sito attraverso la pressione manuale di lana d’acciaio sulla superficie murale, creano nuvole di marcature connesse al pavimento con sottili linee di fibra d’acciaio. Questa alterazione produce un contrasto materiale e si correla con il dipinto ospitato al secondo piano, Untitled 5250. Continuando ad evocare un’austerità, una quiete quasi eterea, tale lavoro si sviluppa mediante l’incassamento di sottoprodotti petroliferi usati per la salvaguardia delle imbarcazioni di legno dalla putrefazione della secca.

Daniel Turner è nato a Portsmouth, Virginia, nel 1983, vive e lavora a New York, NY. Ha partecipato a numerose mostre personali

Pianissimo gallery is pleased to announce Britannica, the first italian exhibition by American artist Daniel Turner. The current show will be made of several wall rubbings and one painting. Turners untitled wall rubbings will span throughout the ground floor space engaging both the consideration of presence and absence in a subtle yet unsettling manner.

Made by the manual pressing of steel wool directly onto the gallery wall the rubbings create clouds of indexical markings producing lines of fine steel fibers amongst the gallery floor. This weathering away of material contrast and correlates with another work housed upon the second floor, Untitled 5250. Continuing to evoke an austere, almost ethereal calmness, such work has developed by encasing petroleum byproducts used to preserve wooden vessels against dry rot.

Daniel Turner was born in Portsmouth Virginia in 1983 and currently lives and works in New York NY. He has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions including Wallspace Gallery, New York, NY; West Street Gallery, New York, NY; Martos Gallery, New York, NY; New Jersey Museum of Contemporary Art, Asbury Park, NJ; The Chrysler Museum of Contemporary Art, Norfolk VA; The Hermitage Museum, Norfolk, Va; Jericho Ditch, Isle of Wight, VA; and Walter and Mcbean Gallery, San Francisco, CA.
