Laika Gallery invites you to the "Full Moon" exhibition signed by Romanian artist Mircea Suciu. The show will exhibit 7 recent, rather large sized drawings in charcoal on paper, with a content that involves a determined drive of the artist.
The history understood as a series of events, chronologically arranged, may create a linear sensation that is comfortable from the knowledge's strict point of view. Going beyond the systematical limits of this interpretation, it's impossible not to distinguish the anatomy of some vagabond ideas that haunts the centuries and domains, undermining the conventional and provoking the imaginary. Most of the times, these ideas achieve a secret life and finally conduct to constant, apparently unpredictable errors.
The recurrence of these errors in history, with suspect consequences on human nature's understanding, creates a generous premise for Mircea.
Apart from the profound narrative and speculative humanism of the works, the Full Moon exhibition also defines itself as a study of light with auxiliary cinematographically rooted expressions. As the first movie directors studied and applied artistic matured standards, Mircea creates a reversed aesthetic transfer from movies to drawing.
From an experimental perspective, the option for drawing increases the study's legitimacy and proposes an image conversion into screenings and grey tones with pictorial evidence.
A study assembled into an installation that stands under the Full Moon's name can only incite the viewers to a poetic approach. It's an approach that subtly suggests that even we are a history of stubborn yet fascinating ideas.
Laika Gallery provides a strong platform for ambitious projects focusing on showcases of current trends and styles doubled by a deep sense of expertise and professionalism. Laika aims to promote emerging yet reputed artists, mainly from Romania, but also from the international art scene.
Mircea Suciu's FULL MOON will remain on view through April 25th.
