Vanessa Suchar, is pleased to announce "French Connection", her latest Salon for Art Collectors, featuring new works by four talented French artists.

Selected pieces of art will be exhibited at Westbourne Studios, an innovative center for the creative arts set in the heart of west London. More than 100 studios housing 130 creative companies are set around a 6000 sq ft indoor courtyard. The courtyard has the Westway for its roof and is the hub of Westbourne's social ethos, providing both studio holders and the public with a cultured environment to work and play. The ground floor is a mix of 60s furniture, pool and babyfoot that is bordered by display studios, a screening room and an excellent café/bar/restaurant.

The Gallery at Westbourne Studios is situated on the fist floor balcony overlooking the courtyard. This unique space not only utilises the Westway for a roof but has the main supporting stanchion pushing up through the floor of the gallery.

Céline Berger's paintings often look just like photos. One has to approach her figurative paintings with the same consideration as an image in its full sense. The frame of representation leads us to concentrate on the problem of the middle centre point- or in its absence- within the depicted scenes, when the scenes themselves subsursively question the artifice character of popular culture.

Fabrice Midal works feature a roundel made from cardboard plates that is impressive and kitsch. His photos of flowers and paintings are always focused on the centre, a search he has been seeking over almost a decade now. Midal's pieces evolve from a highly spiritual background that is oriented toward the philosophy of Buddhism, which encourages every human being to find its middle path.

The fact that transparency has forever haunted painting, from Baroque aesthetics to Picabia and Polke, is probably the springboard and initial fascination of Hervé lc's work. If there is one kind of transparency that evacuates its space through an enveloping light, a glossiness and a blurredness, in which the picture becomes mirror, there is another kind which fills it by a series of layers, coats, strata, veils and images, all superimposed, which are mixed together to such an extent that they turn the picture into a translucent and diaphanous screen.

Elizabeth Thomas says about Georges-Pascal Ricordeau, "Although his reputation as an artist was growing, after a series of irreconcilable difficulties, he found himself living in the streets of Paris with nothing to his name. So, in this era of street culture, Ricordeau started to work with what was available in that environement: street materials. He gleaned whatever he could, recuparating things as commonplace and artistically invisible as plastic bags, with supermaket or even luxury labels, and began weaving them into cords. Later, the cord was formed into specific works... the result of this recuperation is inspiringly fresh and even humourous"

We are today very pleased to be able to exhibit the above artists at The Westbourne Studios, a trendy creative space located in funky Notting Hill.

Le Salon for Art Collectors showcases international emerging artists in comfortable and personal settings that help break through many barriers surrounding contemporary art. Le Salon provides a learning environment, while letting art-enthusiasts imagine how a piece of art would look in a private home. Prices are affordable and clearly marked, and the atmosphere is without the pressures of a gallery.
