Latin American Art Museum, Museo Civico di Abano Terme promote Contemporary Latin American Art.
Art exhibit marks significant milestone in the exchange of culture between
U.S. and Europe.
The Latin American Art Museum in Miami and the Italian
Museo Civico di Abano Terme, announced today they have joined forces to
promote Latin American contemporary art in Europe, through an art exhibition
taking place on July 14, 2000, at the Museo Civico di Abano Terme.
"Latin American contemporary art has a richness in culture that has become
increasingly popular not only in the U.S., but around the globe," said Raul
Oyuela, of the Latin American Art Museum. "Given its world-wide
acceptance and the high demand for culturally sensitive art, we have
organized the first of what we hope will become an established tradition
between the U.S. and Europe in promoting Latin American contemporary art."
The artists for the show were selected in Italy by the director of cultural
art, based on several dozens of catalogues submitted by artists in 1999. Of
these, 20 artists were chosen to participate in the exhibition at Abano
Terme, all of which come from Latin American backgrounds and reside in
Florida.
Although Latin American artists are now becoming more well-known
internationally, there is still room for growth and recognition. The Latin
American Art museum aims to draw public attention to their art and acts as a
liaison between museums around the world and selected artists. The museum
was created by Raul Oyuela. Admission to each exhibit is free of charge.
Located at 4006 Aurora Street, Coral Gables, FL 33146, the museum displays
all types of Latin American contemporary paintings and sculptures, each
chosen not for reputation of its creator nor for its market value, but rather
for its quality.
Exhibition open to the public on July 14 through August 10, 2000 in Abano
