No typos with tipos! Over 70 posters that present works of the type designers from 13 countries of Latin America, among others Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Bolivia, Chile or Mexico.
Tipos Latinos 2012 is the 5th Biennial Show of Latin American Typography promoting the constant growth of type design coming out of Latin America.
As a part of the Exhibition Tour, Vernon Gallery in collaboration with the internationally renowned Czech type foundry TypeTogether will bring Tipos Latinos for the first time to the Czech Republic. The exhibition consists of over 70 posters that present works of the type designers from 13 countries of Latin America, among others Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Bolivia, Chile or Mexico. To support a connection between Czech and Latin American typography series of posters produced within a project of TYPO9010 at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague will be displayed as well.
During the last two decades the design of the Latin American fonts has experienced an overwhelming growth, both in quantity and quality, and it has reached such a high level that it rivals even European type designers, who can draw of more than five centuries of expertise. The Latin American typography has become a world phenomenon because of its innovative and crafty design.
With this fifth edition, Tipos Latinos has taken its biggest leap outside of Latin America since it has been founded. The works of the winning contestants will be
displayed for the first time – besides the Czech Republic – in Egypt, the United Kingdom, the Philippines and other countries.
The objectives of this cooperation are clear: expose the local Czech design scene to the Latin American typography and nurture the exchange of knowledge and experience. Further educational aspects include lectures, guided tours and workshop held by TypeTogether. These cultural activities are open to the wider audience interested in the field of typography or book culture.

TypeTogether was founded in 2006 by type designers Veronika Burian and José Scaglione and is situated in Prague.
