Fotofever Paris 2013

Fotofever is born from the will to create a platform to promote photography.
Through a pointed selection each edition carries the values of fotofever: daring, passionand sharing.

Fotofever explores the diversity of photography of today while also supporting the young generation and spreading interest among new collectors.

Cécile Schall, founder and director of Fotofever, has an ambition to launch a fair on every continent through making fotofever paris a springboard for its international development.

From 15 > 17 november, in Paris, the Carrousel du Louvre turns into a temple of photography and welcomes galleries, collectors, and institutions alike to live intensely and together celebrate our passion for photography in a fiery atmosphere!

An exhibition born of passion

When Cécile Schall decided to set up a promotional platform for photography, she immediately thought in international terms. Her ambition was to bring together and promote the talent of young artists, and she has succeeded in achieving this goal: fotofever is preparing for its second edition, to be held both in Paris and Brussels. Two events looked forward to by many, and where the focus lies on exchange and visibility.

From the Carrousel du Louvre to Tour & Taxis

It all starts in Paris. The idea behind the concept is to help new, beginning collectors get started by putting galleries in contact with publishers, collectors, artists and amateurs. All of this revolves around the same central theme, fine art photography. This true cultural exchange enables the new to find a place next to the established, where visitors are given the opportunity to meet interested collectors. It is a multi-layered concept, where each event in turn generates a new event. There is a private collection centring on the theme of ‘la fesse (the buttocks)’, a VIP route through the city, photography lectures, and an exhibition featuring the winner of the photo prize. This remarkable start is continued seamlessly in the heart of Europe, Brussels, in the iconic Tour & Taxis building.

The granddaughter of photographer Roger Schall, Cécile Schall, is not satisfied with just setting up an exhibition, dedicated to an art form that has now become fully developed. With the opening of this double edition of fotofever (with plans to start events in Asia and the United States in the near future), she provides a unique overview of contemporary photography, incorporating a selection of 130 galleries and international publishers. The unique quality derives not only from the variety of the talent represented, but also from the originality of the works. The works of over 300 artists from different countries will be on display at the galleries. Effective immediately, this double start is a date with contemporary art that must not be missed.
