The group exhibition entitled as non-place, curated by Mehmet Kahraman, is about non-places such as airports, amusement parks and shopping centers of our era, which are detached from their contexts, resemble one another and can be found anywhere. The non-places which influence the way mobile subjects of the contemporary world experience places, bring people together and let them socialize while giving individuals an existential contradiction space by creating a sense of loneliness.
In that sense, Aslı Narin’s photographic abstractions identify these transit places, whereas images produced by Egemen Tuncer allow us to focus on new forms of these places after going through a transformation. Hasan Deniz’s photography reveals uncanny memories of unsteady or vanishing places. Shaped around three different perspectives, the exhibition will become site-specific through a number of references to the architectural structure of Mixer’s exhibition area.
