25 pieces will explore the fashion of the 1930's
This autumn, the Gallery of Costume, Platt Hall (Manchester City Galleries) exhibits Schiaparelli & Thirties Fashion, opening on 8 October 2015. The exhibition of 25 pieces will explore the fashion of the 1930's and highlight the work of the most significant female couturier of the period, Elsa Schiaparelli. Curated by Miles Lambert, the exhibition will display some of the most striking fashion pieces of the pre-war decade from the Gallery of Costume's own collection, including six recently acquired Schiaparelli designs. Elsa Schiaparelli (1890-1973) is celebrated for her creativity both as an artist and as a fashion designer and is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World Wars.
