An international team of curators (Paulo Herkenhoff, Maaretta Jaukkuri and Rosa MartÃnez) has undertaken to explore the situation of 'Art in Vienna', conducting a field study of the present-day intellectual and cultural climate of this city and the elements that make it. This view from outside is directed to art trends, positions and concepts, looking for the cutting edge and novelty, for the controversial and the suggestive.
The artists participating were invited to produce new works for the exhibition. Vienna keeps reappearing in them ever and again as a local or mental reference point. 'Living and Working in Vienna' thus becomes a platform for a mobile art scene between taking stock and taking action.
