Painting Exhibition
Manos Anastasiadis was born in 1948
in Diafani, Karpathos.
He studied at the pedagogical
Academy of Rhodes and at the Aegean
University and he studied painting at his free
time. He has a broad spectrum of artistic
pursuits centered on the world of the
Mediterranean. His subjects include landscapes,
portraits, symbolic representation, still life etc.
Apart from his landscapes, which depict the
artistic and spiritual life of the Aegean islands, a
definitive element of his painting is the human
form, which he uses impressionistically,
reducing the descriptive role of colors and
emphasizing their expressive power. In his
mature, more recent cycle of works, which appear
to consolidate all his earlier studies and
influences, he has advanced to symbolic and
abstract composition, leading towards
Impressionism and Lyrical Abstracts, and giving
dominance to color. His themes also
include inwardness and ecumenism,
very much breaking away from
external characteristics.
