MICHAEL CURRAN - Tues 20 May 8.45pm NFT2
Michael Curran's video works blend iconic everyday elements and cryptic,
literary narratives to create a powerful, almost mythic resonance. Centred
on Curran's new piece 'Love in a Cold Climate', a haunting 60-minute film
based on the story of the Snow Queen, this screening also features earlier
video pieces like 'Disclaimer' and
'footnote*'. Michael Curran will be present to introduce the programme.
GRAHAM GUSSIN - Tues 24 June 8.40pm NFT2
Graham Gussin is one of Britain's leading contemporary artists, whose
inventive and audacious conceptual works brim with knowing and affectionate
references to cinema. In this presentation, Gussin showcases a number of the
increasingly ambitious film and video projects that he has made in the past
few years, and draws out the artistic and cinematic influences that have
informed his work. The programme features projection works like 'Remote
Viewer', 'Road Movie' and 'Spill' and ends on Gussin's new installation for
this year's Venice Biennale.
BREDA BEBAN - Tues 22 July 8.40pm NFT2
Breda Beban's haunting and emotionally affecting film and video works have
left a powerful impression on audiences around the country. Following on
from two major touring exhibitions of her work, this programme acts as a
survey of her recent single channel films and gallery-based installations,
whilst also touching upon earlier pieces produced with her late partner
Hrvoje Horvatic. Breda Beban will be present to introduce the screening,
which will feature single channel works like 'The Walk of the Three Chairs'
